John E. Parks, Owner of Marine Management Solutions, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Marine Science.

As a Hawaii native, Mr. Parks has dedicated his professional life to natural resource management, working with local communities, indigenous leaders, resource users, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to develop policies, strategy, and economic development. He employs solutions that strengthen environmental and civil security in coastal communities around the world, and is the recipient of a 2016 Marine Policy Award and a 1998 World of Difference Award from the World Wildlife Fund. In addition to his management firm, Mr. Parks is also the founder of Exo Scientific LLC, and was invited as an expeditionary member of the 2010 Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument and Holo i Moana Research Cruise by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

A graduate in behavioral science and marine biology of the University of Miami, Mr. Parks earned a master’s degree in marine affairs and policy from the university’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, which presented him with a 1995 Award of Academic Excellence and fellowship with the school. While a graduate student, he worked with the World Wide Fund for Nature in the Solomon Islands, and went on to become a program officer of the World Wildlife Fund, where he earned an Outstanding Employee Award and a seat with the fund’s board of directors. Later, he worked with the World Resources Institute in Washington, the Community Conservation Network of Honolulu, and from 2004 to 2008 served as federal officer of NOAA in Honolulu. He launched Marine Management Solutions in 2010, and founded Exo Scientific in 2017.

Mr. Parks holds numerous first aid, resuscitation, and wilderness survival certifications from the American National Red Cross, and is a certified open water diver. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society for Conservation Biology, the Pacific Science Association, the Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii, and the IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas. He works hard at environmental science to leave a better world for his two sons.
