James Checkel, Researcher at the Mayo Clinic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neurology research.
Being a researcher for the Mayo Clinic is just one of the many positions and interests Mr. Checkel dedicates his time to. Throughout the more than 40 years of his career, he has kept busy as a farmer and technologist along with his research. He started researching at the Mayo Clinic in 2011, specializing in allergy and asthma. He has worked with the Mayo Clinic in different capacities such as in medical education, research and cell technology.
Mr. Checkel earned an AA from the Rochester Vocational-Technical Institute in 1980. Since 2014, he has served on the Southwest Minnesota State University Agricultural Advisory Council and since 2016 on the Dodge County Planning Commission. He was selected to serve on the board of directors for the Dodge County Historical Society in 2017. In addition to these civic duties, Mr. Checkel is also involved with the Dodge County Farm Bureau as president, as the town supervisor for Ashland and as the secretary for the MARL Board of Directors and the Alumni Association.
