Daniel Collins, Owner and Chief Scientific Officer at the CytoMedical Design Group LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in oncology, immunology and hematology research.
Dr. Collins became involved in his profession while earning a master’s degree. The degree was in the school of public health and tropical medicine, and it was here he was exposed to the field of immunology. During the coursework for a PhD, he studied the immune system with regards to parasitic infections malaria, which led him to postdoctoral work on hematology oncology. While he was at the Harrington Cancer Center, he ran a clinic immunology lab, while he was an assistant professor and during the last year he got recruited to work for R&D Systems Inc. He left R&D Systems Inc. to start up his own company. Since 2010, he has owned and served as the Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of CytoMedical Design Group LLC. The company exists to develop or acquire cost effective technologies and products to enable successful cell therapies that result in improved patient outcomes.
Dr. Collins was first set on his path by earning a bachelor’s degree from Long Island University. He continued his education at Tulane University where he received a Master of Science in public health and tropical medicine in 1980. Following this, he received a PhD in immunoparasitology at Louisiana State University in 1984. He is a National Institutes of Health Fellow. In his career, Dr. Collins has taught as an assistant professor at Texas Tech University and been a member of the Nano Technology Group at Dakota County Technical College.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Collins endeavors to finalize the liver project he is working on along with some other research projects in development.
