Jan-Fong Jue, PhD, senior materials scientist for Idaho National Laboratory, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in research.
With a strong background in science and seven U.S. patents on ceramic materials, Dr. Jue is highly regarded in his industry and a recognized expert among his peers. Today, he excels in his role as senior materials scientist in the advanced characterization department at Idaho National Laboratory. In this role since 2005, he was recently distinguished as a star scientist for his exceptional contributions to the laboratory, which includes acting as the Instrument Scientist for the JEOL 7000F SEM, where he works on nuclear materials characterization using electron microscopy. He also develops metallic fuels and high temperature ceramic sensors.
With 27 years of experience, Dr. Jue demonstrates a breadth of knowledge and shares insights derived from his past work endeavors. Before coming to the Idaho National Laboratory, he served as a materials scientist for Argonne National Laboratory West, adjunct assistant professor for the University of Utah, senior research scientist for Materials and Systems Research, Inc., and postdoctoral fellow for the University of Utah.
Dr. Jue has extensive experience in nuclear fuels, microstructure characterization, and material processing. He holds a PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Science in materials science and engineering from the National Tsinghua University in Taiwan. A respected voice in his industry, Dr. Jue has published more than 35 journal papers throughout his career. In recognition of his professional excellence, he has been featured in Who’s Who in America five times as well as in Who’s Who in the World.
Dr. Jue credits his love of science and his work ethic for his success over the last 30 years. Believing science to be a detail-oriented field, he maintains a focus and dedication to his work to prevent missing out on integral findings and research. Dr. Jue is a member of numerous prominent industry organizations, including ASM International, the American Nuclear Society, the American Ceramic Society, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
