An accomplished figure in the field of cytogenetics, Dr. Mummaneni has nearly 30 years of professional experience. She currently acts as a consumer safety officer and regulatory project manager with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a position she has held since 2008. Prior to this appointment, she served as an adjunct professor of microbiology at Marymount University in 2005, a contract research fellow with the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration from 2004 to 2005, and a volunteer consultant director with NeuroNascent, Inc., in 2004.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Dr. Mummaneni sought a formal education at Delhi University in India, receiving a Bachelor of Science in life sciences in 1980 and a Master of Science in 1982. She concluded her studies with a Doctor of Philosophy from the same academic institution in 1989. After earning her degrees, she served as a postdoctoral research fellow with the University of Kentucky and a staff fellow at the National Institutes of Health from 1989 to 2000.
Passionate about sharing her knowledge with her community, Dr. Mummaneni was employed by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, from 1998 to 2000, acting as a juror and guest lecturer for the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences. She has been deemed a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Society of Cellular and Molecular Biology. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to science, she has been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of American Women, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders.
