In 2009, Mr. Martinez was an associate scientist II with Kelly Scientific, having held the same position with Beckman Coulter, Inc., from 2007 to 2009.
Before entering the field, Mr. Martinez worked extensively in academia, having served as a research assistant II with the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston from 2005 to 2007, a research assistant with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston from 1996 to 2004, and a research technician with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 1993 to 1998. He served as a research assistant with the Baylor College of Medicine from 1991 to 1993 and a research assistant with the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston from 1987 to 1991.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Martinez worked as a quality control technician with the Chardonol Division of the Freeman Chemical Company from 1985 to 1986 and with PepsiCo from 1982 to 1983. He served as a laboratory technician with the Shilstone Engineering Testing Laboratory, Inc., from 1981 to 1982 and as a research chemist with the Southwest Research Institute from 1978 to 1980. Holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo, Mr. Martinez is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Harris County Tejano Democrats. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to science, Mr. Martinez was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
