Jean-Francois Geneste, former vice president and chief scientist at Airbus S.A.S., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Aviation.

With more than 31 years of professional experience, Mr. Geneste has been the chief scientist and vice president of Airbus S.A.S. since 2009. After such achievement, he now serves as a professor and expert in innovation and entrepreneurship with the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology since 2017. Prior to obtaining his Chief Scientist position, Mr. Geneste was a scientific advisor with EADS Astrium form 2005 to 2009, also serving as a senior manager of innovation with the company from 2005 to 2008. Earlier in his career, he was a senior advisor with Matra Systems and information from 1999 to 2000.

Initially pushed to pursue a career in education by his father, who was a teacher, Mr. Geneste found that he had a natural talent for innovation and thinking outside of the box. He began his career as a student at the École Supérieure d’Ingenieurs en Constructions Aéronautiques from 1983 to 1986. Later in his career, he returned to his studies, completing coursework at the Institut de l’Entreprise.

Mr. Geneste credits much of his success to his mentor, Philippe Camus, the former CEO of EADS and former chair of the board of Alcatel-Lucent among others. Looking toward the future, he is starting a company whose name is WARPA with the goal of research and industrial development. In addition, Mr. Geneste will continue to work as a part-time professor and industrialist, creating opportunities for the next generation and the new concept of launchers and launching systems.
