Dr. Ming Gao, Fellow Scientist and Chief Metallurgist at Blade Energy Partners, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in oil and energy.
When Dr. Gao was young, he was inspired by a variety of mentors to pursue a career in science. He took their advice, and is now known for developing a fundamental understanding of the mechanical, metallurgical and chemical aspects of subcritical crack growth (hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion cracking, high-temperature crack growth, and corrosion fatigue) in ferrous alloys, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, nickel-base alloys and intermetallics. He is also noted for authoring “Fractography & Failure Analysis” in 1978 and for contributing more than 130 publications to professional journals. Dr. Gao’s professional designations include a PhD and a Master of Science from Lehigh University and a Bachelor of Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Over the years, Dr. Gao has additionally applied his knowledge to positions like instructor, associate professor, and professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and visiting scholar, research assistant, senior research scientist, and principal research scientist at Lehigh University. One of the highlights of his career was being asked to be a consultant with the Mobil E&P Technology Center (now the Exxon Mobil Corporation). Dr. Gao felt very valued there, and ended up serving the company as an engineering adviser and senior research specialist for three years. In 2001, he left to become the global integrity services chief engineer for PII Pipeline Solutions at General Electric, and in 2005, he joined his current company, Blade Energy Partners, as a senior engineering adviser.
Dr. Gao’s hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed. He was honored to be selected as a grantee by the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the Office of Scientific Research of the U.S. Air Force. He was also proud to be included in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.
