Gloria Sage, PhD, retired senior scientist for the Syracuse Research Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Sage retired in 2001, having been a senior scientist with the Syracuse Research Corporation since 1980, and a research associate since 1978 and previously from 1967 to 1970. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was an assistant professor and research associate with the State University of New York Health Science Center from 1970 to 1977, an instructor with the University of Oregon from 1961 to 1967, and a teaching fellow with Harvard University from 1957 to 1961. Earlier in her career, she served as a junior chemist with Avco Corporation in 1957 and 1958. In addition to her primary roles, Dr. Sage has been a visiting scientist with Tel Aviv University in Israel and Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Sage was inspired to enter the field by her older brother, who was a chemical engineer and later a nuclear engineer. She began her career as a student at Cornell University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. She subsequently studied at Radcliffe College, completing a Master of Arts in chemistry in 1958. Dr. Sage earned a PhD in physical chemistry from Harvard University in 1963.
