John B. Enns, Ph.D., President at Polymer Networks Characterization, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemical engineering.

An accomplished and celebrated figure in the field of chemical engineering, Dr. Enns has amassed more than four decades of professional experience in his industry. Currently serving as the president of Polymer Networks Characterization, Inc., since 2003, he formerly worked for J&J Vision Care, Inc., as a senior scientist, principal scientist, senior principal scientist and research fellow over the course of 24 years. He commenced his career as a research associate at the Midland Macromolecular Institute and a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Enns pursued a formal education at the University of British Columbia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1973. He subsequently transferred to Case Western Reserve University and received a Master of Science in macromolecular science in 1975. Attending Princeton University soon thereafter, he received a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering in 1979 and 1982, respectively.

Throughout his career, Dr. Enns has had many innovative accomplishments, such as the development of the concept of the liquid-liquid transition in polymers and the formation of a 3D object, such as a contact lens, without a mold. He holds 30 patents in the field in relation to the formation of contact lenses from liquid without molds.

In recognition of his exceptional achievements in engineering, Dr. Enns has accrued several accolades throughout his career, including the Outstanding Service Award from the North American Thermal Analysis Society in 1996. He has additionally been named a fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineering. Notably, Dr. Enns has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
