Diane Vanderwalker, Materials Research Engineer at Army Research Laboratory, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of engineering.

Always interested in science and working with various materials, Dr. Vanderwalker pursued the field of engineering. She has been a research engineer for the US Army Materials Technology Laboratory (now Army Research Laboratory) in Watertown, MA, from 1986 to 1994. Additionally, she worked as an assistant professor for Stony Brook University and has been a consultant for IBM in Yorktown Heights, NY. A testament to her excellence, Dr. Vanderwalker had been named a NATO Fellow with the University of Oxford, England, from 1981 to 1982.

In preparation for her fantastic career, Dr. Vanderwalker earned a Bachelor of Science from Boston College and a Doctor of Philosophy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She focused on material science and chose to work on dislocations of precipitation and materials, enjoying the various problems she was able to solve. Dr. Vanderwalker considers a highlight of her career to be teaching at Stony Brook, where she encountered ideas for her numerous publications and articles. In recognition of her success, Dr. Vanderwalker has been inducted to the New York Academy of Sciences and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
