Edwin Garrison, Geologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in exploration geology.
Mr. Garrison became involved in his profession because he was raised on a farm and always had an interest in the rocks he discovered on the land. While originally majoring in engineering, he took an extra geology course and found the field to be the fit for him. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science at the University of Missouri, Rolla, in 1970 and 1974, respectively. This nascent interest sparked a career for Mr. Garrison that spanned more than five decades. Throughout those years, Mr. Garrison was a part of many successes. He considers the highlight of his career as being the project geologist in the exploration development of the Cortez gold mine in New Mexico, which took place in the early 1970s.
Just prior to receiving the Master of Science degree, Mr. Garrison began working as a geologist at the Azcon Corporation Subsidiary Consolidated Goldfields located in Denver, CO. He remained with the company for three years and then joined as a geologist with Ranchers Exploration & Development Corporation, now Hecla Mining Company. He stayed in this role for a decade, becoming a consultant in the field for the remainder of his career prior to retiring. Furthermore, Mr. Garrison served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965. He maintained membership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has been included in Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Now retired, Mr. Garrison enjoys spending his time with such hobbies as photography and reading.
