Steven Warren, Research Ecologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in ecology.
With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Warren has been a research ecologist with the United States Forest Service since 2011. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was an ecologist with the United States Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory from 1985 to 1998. Dr. Warren was inspired to get into his profession because as a young boy, he was a Boy Scout and he enjoyed being outdoors. He majored in park rangership in college. Dr. Warren is proud of the work he has done with the Army Corps of Engineers and considers it to be one of the highlights of his career. That work led to him going to Colorado State University where he became the director of the Center of Environmental Management and Army Land.
Dr. Warren began his career as a student at Brigham Young University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1980. He continued his studies with the school, completing a Master of Science in 1982. He then joined Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University, earning a PhD in 1985. Dr. Warren is a certified professional soil erosion and sediment control specialist. He attributes his success to questioning everything as opposed to what someone else says and it has led to some amazing discoveries thus far.
