Dr. Zhao entered his profession of medical lab scientist after earning a Bachelor of Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. He majored in medical engineering, earning his Bachelor of Engineering in 2001, before earning a Doctor of Philosophy from Oklahoma State University in 2010. He greatly enjoys being a medical lab scientist because this career gives him the opportunity to synthesize his scientific findings with patient clinical research in order to further scientific research. While currently waiting for approval for a patent, Dr. Zhao is working on the research side of his field. He hopes to conduct further research on the formation of a drug and apply his findings from one disease into research of other similar diseases.
Dr. Zhao has been a research associate for the Houston Methodist Hospital and is now a medical lab scientist within the organization. He is certified in SCYM(ASCP)CM Specialist in Cytometry and has made many discoveries and inventions in the field of bioscience. Among his accomplishments, Dr. Zhao is proud to have been the first person to provide direct evidence to a controversial theory, raised up 30 years ago, in the insect immunology field. His invention in nanomaterial and drug delivery may bring changes to the way of chemotherapy and vaccination. Dr. Zhao is grateful for his mentor Dr. Todd Eagar, an assistant professor of Pathology and Genomic Medicine for the Institute for Academic Medicine at Houston Methodist. As a testament to his success, Dr. Zhao has been featured in the 22nd edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
