Wolfgang Burger, Chemist at OxiMa Tec GmbH, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of chemistry.
Mr. Burger became involved in his profession because when he was a pupil in high school he received his chemistry education from a theologist and he was always interested in chemistry. He received a diploma from the University of Tuebingen in 1981 and in 1984, he earned a Doctor rerum naturalium, a post-graduate degree equivalent to a doctorate of natural sciences. During his studies, Mr. Burger worked as an assistant at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry for the university from 1981 to 1985. Between 1985 to 2007, he excelled in the positions of a science co-worker, a group leader, and the head of the oxide materials development department at Ceramtec AG, and the head of research process and product innovation at OxiMaTec GmbH, another ceramic manufacturing company.
Currently, Mr. Burger is the managing director and chemist at the aforementioned company, a position he has held since 2007. A member of Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker and a lifetime member of Verein Alter Roigel E.V., the highlight of his career was the development of a special ceramic material which is used today for hip joint surgery. Made during his time with Ceramtec AG, it is one of the most famous ceramic materials in the world. Mr. Burger holds patents for zirconia and platelet reinforced alumina (ZPTA-ceramics) and is credited with the development of Y-TZP ceramics by using yttria coated zirconia powders. In further recognition of his achievements, he has been featured in the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the World and in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
