Adel F. Halasa, Chemist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of chemistry.
Born in Jordan and coming to the United States for higher education, Dr. Halasa pursued his initial studies at the University of Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1955. He completed further coursework at Butler University and received a Master of Science in 1958. He concluded his academic career at Purdue University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1964. Dr. Halasa entered the field at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where he excelled in the roles of a group leader, an associate scientist, and a senior research associate from 1965 until 1979. In the years after, he excelled as the director of materials and petrochemicals for the Kuwait Institute of Science and Research until he entered the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a research and development fellow. Since 2009, Dr. Halasa has been dedicating his knowledge and skills to International Polymer Consultants LLC.
A contributor of over 150 articles to technical publications, Dr. Halasa additionally possesses 340 United States patents. Over 200 of his patents are in the field of rubber chemical hydrogenation of elastomers, anionic polymerization for well-defined morphology, blend and polymer alloys, polymerization of diolefines and diene, and phosphonitrillic chlorides elastomers. Dr. Halasa has also done valuable work in elastomer synthesis, especially Goodyear SBR rubber.
A member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Chemical Society, Dr. Halasa has established the first sulfur conference in Kuwait and is currently working on metastasis reactions in rubber with the intention of recycling and returning rubber to its original form. He is the recipient of the Charles Goodyear Medal and is recognized as a Purdue University Distinguished Alumni. One of the most respected individuals in his industry, Dr. Halasa is well regarded by the top executives of American tire companies. In further recognition of his accomplishments, he has been featured in the first edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, as well as the 24th and 25th editions of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
