Cal C. Herrmann, Scientist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of chemistry.

Greatly inspired by his father, Cedric Carl, a lawyer and president of his own company, Dr. Herrmann pursued an education at the University of Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1951 and a Master of Science in 1956. He completed additional study at the University of Paris in France and graduated with a Doctor of Science in 1974. During his postgraduate study, Dr. Herrmann also worked as a charge de research, for the National Center of Science Research from 1972 to 1975.

Beginning his career at the same time as his education, Dr. Herrmann worked for Melpar Inc. as a senior scientist from 1963 to 1965, when he became an assistant professor at American University in Washington. He then entered the U.S. Army Electronics Command as a chemist until 1970, when he found success as a senior scientist at the ESB Research Center for two years. Between 1975 and 1993, Dr. Herrmann excelled in the positions of a director of research for Synthatron Corp., a project manager for the University California, Berkeley, a manager of the analytical laboratory at Matrecon, Inc., and a senior scientist at the Bionetics NASA Ames Research Center, which was the pride of his career.

In 1993, Dr. Herrman took on the role of vice president at Water and Environment Techs., Inc. until his retirement in 1998, when he also retired from the University of California, Berkley. An expert in his field, he has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, holds patents in the field, and contributed his knowledge as a consultant to General Hydroponics from 1988 to 2012. Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Dr. Herrmann has been an active member of the International Desalination Association, the American Physical Society, the New York Academy of Science, the Illinois State Academy of Science, the American Water Works Association, and the Hydroponic Society of America. In recognition of his achievements, he has been featured in the 23rd and 24th editions of Who’s Who in the West.
