Dr. DiFoggio began his career at Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas, where he served as a research physicist from 1981 to 1988. He accepted a position as the director of technology at Core Laboratories, which he held for eight years, and later joined as a senior technical advisor at Baker Hughes, a position he presently holds. In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr. DiFoggio has contributed numerous articles to scientific journals and is a prolific patentee, holding more than 130 United States patents, with dozens pending. He employed his expertise as an officer of the Near-Infrared Study Group in the American Society for Testing and Materials from 1991 to 1996, and maintains affiliations with the Society of Applied Spectroscopy, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Chemical Society and the American Physical Society.
In preparation for his career, Dr. DiFoggio attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1974. He continued his academic pursuits at the University of Chicago, earning a Master of Science in 1977 and a PhD in 1980. He has been recognized with a Baker Hughes Chairman’s Award, a Nottingham Prize from the Conference on Physical Electronics, and in 2015, he received a Baker Hughes Lifetime Technology Achievement Award. As a further testament to his success, stature and experience, Dr. DiFoggio has been featured in the third edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, the 23rd edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, the 32nd and 33rd editions of Who’s Who in the World, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
