Victor Ivan Chornenky PhD, Principal Scientist at Minnesota Medical Physics LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physics and medical discovery.
Dr. Chornenky was an excellent student all his life. He was interested in physics and technology in high school, and all his peers told him he would make a fantastic scientist. Upon graduating from high school in Moscow, Russia, followed his passion and earned Master of Science in physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1965 and later a PhD in physics from the institution in 1974. While living in Moscow, Dr. Chornenky worked for the Institute Quantum Electronic “Polus” as a leading engineer from 1968 to 1970 as a senior scientist from 1970 to 1975. He took his talents to both the Moscow Institute for Automobiles and the Institute Applied Giophysics where he worked as a professor of physics and a senior scientist, respectively, from 1975 to 1989, before relocating to the United States.
Once he settled in the United States, Dr. Chornenky worked scientist at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts from 1989 to 1990 and as a visiting scientist with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1991 to 1992. He left Massachusetts for Minnesota to work as a senior scientist with GV Medical (SpectraScience) in Minneapolis from 1992 to 1994 and was a principal scientist with XRT Corp., in St. Paul from 1995 to 2000. After working as a staff scientist, for Medtronic Corp. from 2000 to 2001, Dr. Chornenky became a principal scientist with Minnesota Medical Physics LLC in Minneapolis in 2001 and remains in this role.
Dr. Chornenky holds 52 US patents on medical devices for cardiology, cancer treatment, osteoarthritis, nephrology and ophthalmology, and he has contributed various articles to professional journals. He considers his greatest career achievements to be building a company, and he is currently working on marketing, treatments, and electric stimulation. Ultimately, helping patients eradicate pain via his treatment plans and discoveries is what Dr. Chornenky considers to be extremely rewarding. He is working on treating complications after diabetes that would help prevent blindness, limb loss, and other severe issues. Though he is proud of his accomplishments thus far, Dr. Chornenky is excited to conduct more research and believes the most important things in his scientific career will manifest in several years. As a testament to his success, Dr. Chornenky has been featured in the second edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
