Constance Knight, PhD, Independent Geologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Oil Development.
With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Knight has been an independent geologist since 2009. Prior to establishing her own firm, she was with True North Energy Corporation from 2007 to 2009, she was an exploration manager with Robson Energy from 2005 to 2007, and she was vice president of exploration with Admiral Bay Resources, Inc., in 2005. From 2002 to 2004, she was a consultant and independent contractor, from 2001 to 2002 she was a geologist and borehole analyst with Baker Atlas, and from 1996 to 2000 she was a geologist and independent contractor. Earlier in her career, she was a senior principal environmental engineer with Rocky Flats from 1991 to 1995, a geologist, consultant, and independent contractor from 1978 to 1991, and a senior petroleum geologist with American Oil Company from 1973 to 1978.
Dr. Knight first pursued an education with Western State College (now Western Colorado University), where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1973. She continued her studies with the University of Arizona, completing a Master of Science in geology in 1973. She then joined the Colorado School of Mines, receiving a Professional Degree in hydrogeology in 1993, and earning a PhD in geology in 1999. She is a licensed professional geologist in the state of Utah and a registered professional geologist in the state of Wyoming.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Dr. Knight has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the Wyoming Geological Association, the Denver Well Log Society, the Denver Geophysical Society, SIPES, and the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. She has also been active with the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Denver Earth Resources Library. A presenter in the field to various groups, she has written extensively in her areas of expertise and she was the creator of a geologic teaching product for Ward’s Science.
Throughout her career, Dr. Knight has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Distinguished Public Service to Earth Science Award from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, she was selected by the Denver Business Journal as one of the Top 40 Women in Energy and named among their Who’s Who in Energy. She credits much of her success to having learned the value of hard work and tenacity, having come from an immigrant family at a pivotal time in international relations.
