Janet Rideout, PhD, Vice President of Discovery at Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry.
With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Rideout has served as an exemplary member of the field with such roles as serving as the vice president of discovery at Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc., from 1998 to 2002, as a senior director of discovery since 1996 and as a director of the chemicals department since 1995. Prior to obtaining these roles, she held a number of positions with Burroughs Wellcome Company, including associate director of organic chemistry from 1991 to 1994, having been an assistant director from 1988 to 1991 and group leader from 1983 to 1988. Earlier in her career, she leveraged her skills and expertise as a group leader of experimental therapy for the company from 1979 to 1983, a senior research chemist from 1970 to 1979, and as a research chemist from 1968 to 1970.
Dr. Rideout first pursued her higher education with Mount Holyoke College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. She continued her studies with the school, completing a Master of Arts in 1963. She then joined the State University of New York, Buffalo, earning a PhD in 1968. A fellow and former board member of the American Institute of Chemists, she is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
