Catherine Uyehara, PhD, Research Director at Regional Health Command of the Pacific and Hawai’i, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Uyehara has been the research director at Regional Health Command of the Pacific and Hawai’i since 2012, having been chief of clinical investigation since 2007. Prior to obtaining her current positions, she was a research pharmacologist with Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children from 1990 to 1991, and she held a postdoctoral fellowship with SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals from 1987 to 1989. In addition to her primary roles, she has held a number of positions with Tripler Army Medical Center, including statistical consultant, chief of research pharmacology, director of collaborative research, and on the graduate faculty for the interdisciplinary biomedical program.
Dr. Uyehara first pursued her higher education with Yale University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1981. She continued her studies with the University of Hawai’i, earning a PhD in physiology in 1987. She is a member of the American Federation for Medical Research, the American Physiological Society, the Society of Uniformed Endocrinologists, the Endocrine Society, the Western Society of Pediatric Research, the Hawai’i Academy of Science, and Sigma Xi. For her contributions to the field, she was decorated with the Medical Merit Order of the Military.
