Ernest H. Gilmour, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Eastern Washington University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements and leadership in academia.
With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Gilmour has been recognized as professor emeritus of Eastern Washington University since 2010. Prior to his retirement, he was a professor of geology with the school from 1967 to 2010. In addition to his primary roles, he was the senior vice president and provost from 1989 to 1991, vice provost of graduate studies and research from 1987 to 1989, consultant to the archaeological services group from 1983 to 1991 and department chair from 1976 to 1987.
From 1965 to 1967, Dr. Gilmour was an assistant professor at the Montana College of Mineral Sciences and Technology, and a mineral fuels geologist with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology. He previously served as a field geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey from 1964 to 1965, and he was an instructor with the University of Montana in 1964. Earlier in his career, he was an engineering geologist with the State of California Department of Water Resources from 1956 to 1961. Dr. Gilmour holds a PhD and a Master of Science from the University of Montana, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California.
