Prasad Y. Rao, PhD, Biotechnologist and Scientist at the Food and Drug Administration, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
With more than four decades of experience, Dr. Rao demonstrates continuous success in his field. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biology from Andhra University in 1966, which was followed by a master’s of science in biochemistry from Banaras Hindu Institute in 1968. He proceeded to further his education in the next four years by earning a DIISc in molecular biochemistry and a PhD in biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science. With the necessary academic credentials and an unwavering drive, Dr. Rao was able to begin his professional journey towards becoming the renowned biotechnologist he is today.
Since 1990, Dr. Rao has been employed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He continues to excel there today in his role as a scientist. Some of his previous roles include a research fellow at Columbia University, a senior scientist at Bethesda Research Laboratories, and the director of research and development for Enzo Biochem Inc. Outside of his primary roles, he has authenticated his experiences by contributing articles to professional journals. In light of his accomplishments, he received the David Coffin Award from the Dexter Corporation, among numerous other accolades. Most recently, in 2019, Dr. Rao became a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and the Marquis Humanitarian Award. As a testament to his success, he is listed in the 1990 edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and the 1992 edition of Who’s Who in America.
