Michael Dennis Feit, PhD, Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physics.
During his time studying at Lehigh University, Dr. Feit discovered his passion for physics. In 1964, after choosing to declare his newfound passion as his major, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. In the coming years, he furthered his education once again by earning a PhD in physics from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Much of Dr. Feit’s career has been spent at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In 1972, he was hired as a physicist. Though he was always primarily a physicist, he went on to hold numerous other titles in the years following his initial hire. From 1992 until 1996, he worked as the leader of the optical physics group. He then became the leader for theoretical optics. Later, from 1997 until 2005, he upheld the title of the leader of the laser damage modeling group at the national ignition facility. Dr. Feit continues to work with the laboratory today. His current title is that of a physicist for the visiting scientist of professionals program.
Dr. Feit has additionally found success as a contributing author to articles in over 250 publications. His vast depth of knowledge has led him to become a patentee in his field as well. Throughout his career, he has been abundantly awarded in recognition of his myriad accomplishments. Most recently, in 2014, he earned the Physical and Life Sciences Award from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As a further testament to his success, he is featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the West.
