Harold Chadsey, PhD, PMP, Retired Scientist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physics.

Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science from Centenary College in 1982, Dr. Chadsey started his scientific career as an astronomer for the U.S. Naval Observatory in Miami and then continued in Washington, D.C., between 1985 and 2004. Simultaneously, he earned a Master of Science from American University in 1995 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Kennedy-Western University, now Warren National University, in 2001. Honing his skills, Dr. Chadsey worked with the U.S. Coast Guard as a timing and clock adviser, as well as a professional in atomic frequency standards and GPS timing, precise time and time intervals between 1989 to 2004. At the tail end of his career, he excelled as a physicist for the U.S. Department of the Navy from 2004 to 2016 and as a contractor with the U.S. Department of Defense from 2017 to 2020. A certified project management professional as of 2012, Dr. Chadsey also earned a project management master’s certificate from George Washington University that same year.

Looking back on his illustrious career, Dr. Chadsey is proud to say he is one of the few people in the world who can say their job was to tell time. He recalls his greatest achievements have been receiving his doctorate and PMP certification, along with earning his Meritorious Civilian Federal Service Award in 2016. Likewise, the Naval District of Washington honored him with the Safety Representative Award in 2002. Dr. Chadsey attributes his success to perseverance and drive, as he always grabbed ahold of opportunities to become better at his craft. The 1997 president of the Northern Virginia Radio Control, he was also involved with the Project Management Institute and El Karubah Shriners. He is the author of the 2001 dissertation, “An Automated Quality Control System for Cesium Beam Frequency Standards.” He enjoys motorcycle riding and building and flying remote control airplanes in his spare time. To attest to his legacy, Dr. Chadsey can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
