Farhad Ghavami, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Eurofins BioDiagnostics Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in plant genetics.
Hailing from a family of agriculturalists, Dr. Ghavami has felt deeply connected to the wellbeing of the Earth since his youth, leading him to pursue a profession in the sciences. In his native Iran, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in agronomy and plant breeding from the University of Tehran in 1995 and a Master of Science in plant breeding from the Isfahan University of Technology in 1998. Dr. Ghavami excelled in his first professional role as a research assistant at the National Research Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for four years until 2004. Notably, in 2004, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in molecular genetics from the University of Tehran. From there, he conducted postdoctoral studies in molecular genetics in Canada until 2006.
Upon his arrival to the United States, Dr. Ghavami served as a research assistant professor and postdoctoral research associate at North Dakota State University from 2006 to 2013, where he was granted the Presidential and Travel Award. He was also a research associate at the University of Minnesota in 2013. For the past eight years, Dr. Ghavami has flourished as the chief scientific officer and manager of the agronomics’ laboratory at Eurofins BioDiagnostics Inc. in Wisconsin. He considers leading science, technology and reading programs in agriculture on advancing the genetic movement to be his career highlight, along with pioneering the solver tool in the United States. Dr. Ghavami attributes his success to his family, education, culture and the promotion of science. Presently, he holds membership with the Iranian Genetics Society and the Analytical Excellence to Industry Collaboration. Looking ahead, Dr. Ghavami aims to continue expanding and promoting new genetics technology worldwide. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, swimming, reading and spending time with family.
