Krzysztof Jan Wojciechowski, International Consultant on Animal Health, Virology, Biotechnology and Disease Control, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in veterinary science.

Having accrued more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Wojciechowski is renowned for his globally recognized contributions to virology and veterinary medicine. Upon completing veterinary surgeon coursework at Warsaw Agricultural University-SGGW in 1961, he began his career as a mycologist and antibiotics fermentation master producer for Polfa Pharmaceuticals. He subsequently continued his education at Warsaw Agricultural University-SGGW, where he completed a research fellowship and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Science in microbiology in 1967. Additionally, in 1974, Dr. Wojciechowski attained a Doctor of Science from the National Veterinary Research Institute in Pulawy, Poland.

During the earliest stages of his career, between 1967 and 1977, Dr. Wojciechowski worked as the head of the virology section and as an assistant professor of virology at the Laboratory of Veterinary Hygiene in Warsaw, where he specialized mainly on the modernization of animal rabies diagnosis and the diagnosis of respiratory viruses in cattle. Likewise, he had served as a university lecturer on epizootiology virology and veterinary propedeutics between 1963 and 1970. Progressing in his career, Dr. Wojciechowski worked with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the United Nations on a veterinary project as an animal health officer of virology in Kabul, Afghanistan. Following this period, he served as the project manager from 1977 to 1981 and at the FAO Animal Production and Health Division at the organization’s headquarters in Rome, Italy, as an animal health officer of virology from 1982 until 1999.

Since 2000, Dr. Wojciechowski has worked as an international consultant on animal health, virology, biotechnology and disease control in Poland, Ireland and the Balkans. To remain aware of developments in his field, he currently maintains affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Microbiology and the Polish Society of Veterinary Science, where he is the former chairperson of the Warsaw branch. He is also a lifetime member of the United Nations Staff Members Association. To attest to his legacy, Dr. Wojciechowski can also be found in editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in the World.

Finding great success throughout the course of his career, Dr. Wojciechowski was the recipient of the Amicus Veterinariae Medal in 2011, as well as a medal from the Warsaw University Life Sciences in 2013. He was also granted a Letter of Appreciation from the Government of Afghanistan in 1981, a Mark of Distinction from the Minister of Agriculture and Food Economy in 1998 and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Center in 2006. In addition, Dr. Wojciechowski was named as a George C. Poppensiek Visiting Professor in International Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 2001. In his spare time, he enjoys philosophy, history, literature, jazz and skiing.
