In a career dedicated to scientific research, Dr. Desai excelled as a research specialist in the Department of Physics at the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 30 years, from 1974 to 2002. His career in science crossed many fields of discipline, including polymer physics, polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, thermal chemistry, and writing, along with research work including charge transfer complexes in superconductor polyacetylene monomers and polymers, liquid crystals, non-linear harmonic studies, and more. Notably, he worked on more than 350 new chemicals with details on each class of properties including thermal behavior. Today, Dr. Desai serves as a financial advisor for an independent finance consultant, a role he commenced in 2001. He builds off his earlier experience as a financial advisor with MetLife Insurance and holds a SAP certification.
A fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, Dr. Desai cites that scientific research has a pivotal role in society that will always remain constant, and he looks forward to continuing contributing to its progression. He is currently active in the Delaware Valley Thermal Analysis Forum, American Management Association, North America Thermal Analysis Society, International Confederation for Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, American Chemical Institute, and the American Chemical Society. Matriculating at Gujarat University in his native India, Dr. Desai earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1968 and a Master of Science in 1970 before attending St. Joseph’s University, where he attained a Master of Science in chemistry in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration in 1984. To attest to his legacy, Dr. Desai is also listed in editions of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.
