David W. Low, Ph.D., Management Science Consultant at David W. Low & Associates, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in management science.
Dr. Low became involved in his profession due to his experience using mathematical simulations and optimization modeling to assist clients in building optimal strategic plans. Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1964, he spent two years as a flight test engineer at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation’s “Skunk Works” developing and supervising test programs for the SR71 “Blackbird.” He then taught at California State University at Northridge, where he was granted a Master of Arts in mathematics, and later returned to the University of California Los Angeles to teach and to complete his Doctor of Philosophy in applied mathematics and management science in 1971.
In 1994, Dr. Low founded a new worldwide consulting practice for IBM, called Management Technologies, which specialized in using mathematical models to help managers make better strategic decisions. As the worldwide service line leader, he grew the business to more than 200 consultants in 10 countries, grossing roughly $60 million by the end of his term in 1998. In 2000, Dr. Low established his own company, David W. Low & Associates, Ltd. in Hawaii, where he helps clients create value through science and strategic planning and oversees business development, management consulting, program management, financial analysis, business modeling and operations research.
Dr. Low is also a frequent speaker at professional society events and has represented both IBM and Deloitte on the Management Science Roundtable. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Management and was recently invited to participate in an EEU research program to strengthen the security of financial networks, and has consulted for the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the Development Research Council. Dr. Low attributes his success to his ability to assess issues and tackle them properly and look forward to experiencing the continued growth and success in his career. He is a member of the Honolulu Rotary Club.
