Nrusingha C. Mishra, PhD, Science Officer at Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medicinal research.

Since 1997, Dr. Mishra has excelled as a science officer in congressionally directed medical research programs for the United States Army, managing $50 million grants in various institutions and assisting with the discovery of new drugs and treatments and with the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer. Previously, he had excelled from 1987 to 1991 as a research associate with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Lincoln and with the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, having also been an organic chemist with Oncor, where he produced a patent on modified nucleotides.

After attaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, India in 1978, Dr. Mishra immigrated to the United States and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in medicinal organic chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1987. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Chemical Society. Notably, he has been presented with a Meritorious Service Medal and a Commendation Medal from the United States Army.

Dr. Mishra attributes his success to his parents, wife and his three children. In addition, he cites the guidance and mentorship of his supervisors, teachers and professors throughout his career. He has taken the greatest pride in attaining new treatment strategies for millions of people all over the world who are suffering from cancer.
