Thomas G. Naymik, PhD, Senior Consultant in Hydrogeology at Eagle Research Group Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in geological research.

For more than four decades, Dr. Naymik has been a leading researcher and instructor in geology and the field of hydrogeology, the area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the Earth’s crust. After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1972 from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Naymik followed with a Master of Science in geology in 1974 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He continued his education with a Doctor of Philosophy in geology from Ohio State in 1977. From 1971 to 1972, Dr. Naymik served as an undergraduate teaching assistant in the Ohio State department of geology, as a graduate teaching assistant with Louisiana State University from 1972 to 1974 and as a graduate research associate with Ohio State from 1974 to 1977.

Dr. Naymik is a licensed professional geologist in Illinois and Indiana, a professional geoscientist in Louisiana, a certified groundwater professional through the National Groundwater Association, a certified professional geologist through the American Institute of Professional Geologists, and a board-certified environmental scientist through the American Academy of Environmental Scientists and Engineers.

Dr. Naymik provided superior service as a hydrogeologist with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California from 1977 to 1979 and as a senior hydrogeologist with the Illinois State Water Survey in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois from 1979 to 1984. With Battelle Memorial Institute, a private nonprofit applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Naymik excelled as a section manager in hydrogeology from 1984 to 1986, senior scientist from 1986 to 1989, and research leader and senior research leader from 1989 to 2004 and then senior scientist IV with Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2015, he prospered as a senior consultant with Geosyntec Consultants in Columbus and senior consultant in hydrogeology with Eagle Research Corporation from 2016 to 2020.

In academia, Dr. Naymik has provided superior education as an adjunct associate professor in the department of geology at the University of Illinois from 1982 to 1984 and The Ohio State University from 1985 to 1986, where he served as an adjunct professor from 1986 to 2015.

As a career highlight, Dr. Naymik is proudest of his contributions to the United States Department of Energy, in which his research assured the public that facilities where nuclear waste is stored were secure enough that it will not leak and get into the drinking water supplies of nearby communities and all over the country. He also looks fondly on the time he spent in Greece while researching and in the future is hoping to enjoy his retirement with additional travel.
