Judith Marie Chupasko, Curatorial Associate in the Department of Mammalogy at Harvard University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of zoology.

Bolstered by over three decades of practiced expertise, Ms. Chupasko is a proven leader in the field of zoology, having previously operated as a Curatorial Associate in Mammalogy at Harvard University from 1989 to 2017. In this role, she oversaw the Department of Mammalogy at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, including staff, students, interns and volunteers. Furthermore, she cultivated a collection of several thousand mammal specimens from around the world for museum collections. Ms. Chupasko also previously served as an adjunct professor in Environmental Biology at Boston College from 1992 to 1999. As part of her tireless dedication in the field, she also formerly participated as a member of The American Society of Mammalogists and The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections.

Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Chupasko pursued her own education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and a Master of Science in Zoology from Louisiana State University in 1987. To commemorate her commitment to mammalogy, she has been recognized with the Roosevelt Grant by the American Museum of Natural History and a grant from The American Society of Mammalogists. In light of her numerous achievements, Ms. Chupasko attributes much of her success to her background, overcoming and persevering through many challenges, including poverty. She has always loved animals, and so a career in zoology came naturally to her. In the coming years, she hopes to continue working with larger mammals, such as mountain lions and wolves, ride horses, and possibly teach others to ride.

Despite being raised in poverty and overcoming many hardships, Ms. Chpasko has become successful enough to work at two of this country’s top universities. She would like to dedicate this Marquis Top Scientist award to her mother, Josephine Paesano, for always being loving and supportive of her hopes, dreams and love of animals.
