Title: Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Company: UC Davis Health
Location: Woodland, California, United States

Fabrizio Saraceni, Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UC Davis Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical services.

Following obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from New York University in 1980, Mr. Saraceni subsequently earned a Master of Science in organic photochemistry from Georgetown University in Washington in 1983 and later a Master of Science in biology and biological sciences from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio in 1992. In 2017, he continued his education with a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Mr. Saraceni has been certified as a medical technologist and as a specialist in blood banking and has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Association for Quality, the Air Force Association and the American Society for Clinical Pathology, among others. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 2005, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel and excelling as a squadron commander at an Air Force Hospital at Luke Air Force Base while serving as chief of the Air Force Blood Program.

Mr. Saraceni provided superior service as administrative laboratory director from 2007 to 2015 and Senior Administrative Laboratory Director from 2015 to 2021 with Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, a premier firm offering diagnostic testing and information services. Since 2021, he has flourished as director of pathology and laboratory medicine with UC Davis Health. In this capacity, he is responsible for providing laboratory services to clinics that belong to the Davis Health network and to clients outside of the hospital for special testing. In addition, he performs molecular testing to identify COVID infections and ensures that the laboratory has the resources to execute the testing that is needed for the care of their patients both financially and technologically.

As a career highlight, Mr. Saraceni is most proud of his service with the Air Force following the events of September 11, 2001, when he was able to provide storage for blood donations at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey for blood units not used due to the casualty rate, saving 5,000 units of blood that would otherwise have been unusable. In the coming years, Mr. Saraceni intends to remain with UC Davis Health and looks forward to its future as it grows and expands operations and its patient base.
