Since 2017, he has served as a clinical laboratory supervisor at Ascension Seton Hays, where he specializes in chemistry and microbiology. To wit, Mr. Swink naturally gravitated towards a career as a clinical scientist from an early age. Many of his duties involve maintaining instruments, calibrating and conducting sample tests, and training staff members. In addition to his primary position, Mr. Swink has also operated as an adjunct professor at Texas State University, his alma mater, since 2021.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Swink pursued a formal education, beginning with his time at Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 2014. He subsequently continued his studies at Texas State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science in 2017. As part of his dedication to his profession, Mr. Swink also remains affiliated with the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Over the course of his career, he has largely attributed his success to his love and passion for science and for educating other laboratory professionals. In the near future, Mr. Swink hopes to complete his master’s degree in clinical laboratory science and eventually earn a doctorate.
