Robert E. Baker, Staff Member at the Maya Research Program with the University of Texas at Tyler, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental consulting.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Baker attended Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in biology and anthropology with a minor in chemistry in 1995. He earned a Master of Arts in archaeology at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1998 and transitioned to Colorado State University, where he graduated with a Master of Science in natural resources in 2021. Mr. Baker holds numerous professional certifications. He completed the GIS program at Birkbeck University of London in 2002 and the wetland delineation training program at the Wetland Institute in 2006. He completed the FERC industrial compliance training seminar in 2007, NPDES training in 2010, and the FERC industrial compliance training seminar in 2013. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in environmental sustainability at Prescott College.

Since 1990, Mr. Baker has contributed his expertise as a staff member with the Maya Research Program at the University of Texas at Tyler, and since 1993 he has been affiliated with the Office of the State Archaeologist in the Texas Archaeological Stewardship Network. Prior to these posts, he served as an adjunct professor with Victoria College and Coastal Bend College. Mr. Baker worked as a lead environmental consultant, environmental inspector, and field archaeologist with numerous organizations. For his accomplishments, he was inducted into Colorado State University’s Golden Key International Honor Society in 2017. Mr. Baker maintains membership with the Ecological Society of America and the Society for Ecological Restoration. In the coming years, he hopes to complete his doctoral degree and transition from the energy sector into academia.
