Samir Mansy, Retired Subject Matter Expert in Chemistry at United States Army Corps of Engineers, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry.

With more than 30 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Mansy is currently retired, having most recently excelled as a subject matter expert in chemistry with the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 2002 to 2005. Prior to this position, he served in the aforementioned corps as a senior chemist from 1997 to 2002 and a quality assurance section chief in chemistry in the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division from 1991 to 1997. Dr. Mansy was previously active as a chemist for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1977 to 1986.

Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Mansy pursued an education at Alexandria University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and geology in 1960 and a Master of Science in physical organic chemistry in 1965. He concluded his formal academic studies at Michigan State University in 1970, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry and biophysics. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Mansy refined his skills as a research associate at Michigan State University and Purdue University between 1972 and 1974 as well as a fellow with the University of Oregon Alumni Association and Purdue University between 1974 and 1977.

Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Mansy has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate professional circles. As a former member, he had been affiliated with the American Chemical Society throughout his career. Dr. Mansy has also contributed his wealth of expertise to others in his field as the author of “Louisville Chemistry Guidelines” and “Louisville Radiological Guidelines.”

Having been raised in Alexandria, Egypt, Dr. Mansy had experienced turbulent times in his native country during the nascent years of his career but eventually decided to pursue his doctorate in the United States. Among the many highlights of his career, he is incredibly proud to have discovered one of the most important platinum blue anti-tumor drugs while he was working at Michigan State University. In the coming years, Dr. Mansy hopes to continue enjoying his well-deserved retirement alongside the many wonderful people he has befriended over the years.
