Since 2018, Dr. Shin has shared her expertise as an assistant professor in the Baylor College of Medicine’s Division of General Surgery. Prior to this role, she was a postdoctoral research associate at the institution from 2014 to 2017 and a graduate research assistant at Purdue University from 2010 to 2014. She began her career as a research assistant at Akina Inc. from 2008 to 2010. Alongside her primary roles, Dr. Shin has found success as a contributor of articles to professional journals.

In recognition of her professional excellence, Dr. Shin received a Faculty Research Award in 2018. She was also recognized with a Young Researcher Award and was voted into the Korean American Women in Science and Engineering Group. To prepare for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in food science from Purdue University in 2007. She went on to graduate from Purdue University with a Doctor of Philosophy in pharmaceutical sciences in 2014. To keep abreast of her field, Dr. Shin maintains membership with the Baylor College of Medicine’s Inclusion and Excellence Council.
