Dr. John Rutherford Kettman, PhD, former board member at Radix Biosolutions, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in immunology.
Over the span of his long career, Dr. Kettman has made significant contributions to the fields of immunology and clinical diagnostics. He is widely recognized as the inventor of the Luminex machine, a revolutionary multiple assay system that was adopted by a large portion of the clinical community. Dr. Kettman also served as a former board member for Radix Biosolutions and Luminex Corporation.
Dr. Kettman initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1961. He subsequently graduated with a PhD in biochemistry and immunology from Oregon State University. Dr. Kettman’s expertise and dedication led him to serve as a professor emeritus of Immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center from 1973 to 2001.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Kettman finds much joy in various hobbies. He has a keen interest in painting and graphic arts, which allows him to express his creativity beyond the confines of the laboratory. Dedicated to his family, Dr. Kettman is happily married and has two children and three grandchildren.
Dr. Kettman was notably honored with the prestigious John R. Cutman Award for his contributions to the development of methodologies that have transformed the way research and diagnostics are conducted, paving the way for improved disease detection, treatment, and patient care. Being the first in his family to acquire a doctorate degree, he has proudly set an inspiring example for future generations. In the coming years, Dr. Kettman hopes to enjoy his retirement, cherishing time with his loved ones and pursuing his passion for the arts.
