Dr. Jennifer Chadwick, chief scientific officer at ProtaGene, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in scientific innovation. 

With a bachelor’s degree in history, religion, and philosophy from Miami University and a PhD in chemistry from Purdue University to her credit, Dr. Chadwick has demonstrated expertise and commitment across various pivotal roles throughout her distinguished career. She initially worked as a professor at The University of Kansas from 2004 to 2016, during which time she excelled as founder, chief scientific officer, member of the board of directors, and scientific advisor for Echogen Inc. from 2012 to 2016. Subsequently, she focused on biologic development at BioAnalytix as director from 2016 to 2021 and vice president from 2019 to 2021. She continued her trajectory by assuming the vice president of analytical development role at BioAnalytix-Protagen (ProtaGene US) from 2021 to 2022. With an unwavering commitment to academia, she holds the position of associate director at CASSS – Sharing Science Solutions while also serving as a visiting scientist (professor) at Northeastern University since 2017. As the chief scientific officer at ProtaGene, Dr. Chadwick currently leads innovative initiatives, culminating her comprehensive journey in scientific leadership.

Dr. Chadwick’s civic engagements highlight her dedication and commitment to impacting her community, earning her recognition among the 50 Most Honored Women in Massachusetts. Her involvement began as the founder and chair of the Great Plains Regional Annual Symposium on Protein (GRASP) NMR from 2006 to 2013. She extended her contributions by serving on the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2010 and later as a guest editor for Molecular Pharmaceutics in 2012. Dr. Chadwick was likewise appointed as an editorial board member for Scientific Reports (Nature Open Access Journal) and participates actively in associations such as MassBio’s Academic-Industry Relations Steering Committee and Women in Bio’s Mentors, Advisors, and Peers (MAPs) Program Committee. In addition to these roles, she held positions in leadership, including as part of the Boston chapter leadership for Women In Bio from 2018 to 2021. Dr. Chadwick also operated as chair of public policy and communications for the American Chemical Society and a member of the society’s science executive committee from 2013 to 2016.

The most significant and gratifying experience in Dr. Chadwick’s career stems from the discovery of a groundbreaking chemical reaction, which came about through rigorous academic research, where she and her team observed, analyzed, and effectively explained the workings of this innovative chemistry. This accomplishment led her to establish Echogen Inc. to translate and apply this newfound knowledge practically. Dr. Chadwick has also authored thought leadership articles related to the analytical development of gene therapy products and published approximately 75 peer-reviewed publications, 13 patents, and four book chapters, demonstrating her expertise and deep understanding of biologics and drug development. She attributes her achievements to persistence and resilience, which have enabled her to overcome obstacles and reach her goals.
