Dr. Joy C. Delouth, Senior Clinical Research Associate at DermTech, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in clinical trials.
Dr. Delouth credits her cousin for inspiring her to join the healthcare field. Having had a longtime interest in diseases, she found success with ICON plc for seven years. She is currently serving as a senior clinical research associate for DermTech. Additionally, she has contributed to a diverse range of studies that have successfully brought drugs to market, including projects such as Mgen (mycoplasma genitalium) and COVID-related research.
Attributing determination, shaped by her upbringing in foster care during her formative years as the driving force behind her journey to success, Dr. Delouth utilized this asset to earn a Bachelor of Science in health administration from California State University at Northridge. She subsequently obtained a Master of Public Health from California State University at Northridge in 2012. She has received an honorary doctorate from Trinity International University, acknowledging her lifetime accomplishments in the field of research.
Dr. Delouth dedicates time to speaking at foster homes, foster communities, and group homes as a means of philanthropic outreach, leveraging her background as a former foster child to inspire and educate others. She cites her greatest accomplishment as training other entry-level clinical research associates to help them enter higher positions. However, she finds it challenging to be an African-American woman in her field.
In the future, Dr. Delouth plans to actively work to establish several non-profit organizations, including “What a Joy, LLC” with a business partner. This organization is dedicated to facilitating growth and inner transformation to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and attain success. A second initiative involves connecting male mentors with young men, particularly those who lacked a male figure in their upbringing. She is also anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first child.
