Michael S. Hoe, verification forester at SCS Global Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in forestry.

With nearly 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Hoe has excelled as a verification forester at SCS Global Services since 2016. He began his career as a forest technician for the Bureau of Land Management in 2006. At Oregon State University Corvallis, he established himself as lead forest technician from 2008 to 2010 and as a graduate student research assistant from 2014 to 2016. He contributed as a contract forester to Mason, Bruce & Girard, Inc. from 2009 to 2013.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Hoe pursued an education at Oregon State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in forest management in 2009. He continued his academic efforts at the same, graduating with a Master of Science in sustainable forest management and forest biometrics in 2016. He holds a certification as a registered professional forester by the State of California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and an Oregon green technology certificate from Linn-Benton Community College.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Hoe has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He participated as a shoreline cleanup technician with the Golden Gate Audubon Society. At Oregon State University, he contributed as a greenhouse construction assistant and treasurer and a supervisory committee member. He found success as the author of “Multi-temporal LiDAR Improves Estimates of Fire Severity in Forested Landscapes,” published in the International Journal of Wildland Fire in 2018. He was a member of the State of California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Society of American Foresters.
