Leonard “Pete” Carter, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), PhD, Applied Physics, writer at Quora, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
With 53 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Carter has excelled as a writer at Quora since 2016. He established himself with various defense companies between 1971 and 2011. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1969 in several roles, including as a scientific analyst at the Air Force Logistics Command and as a physicist at the Air Force Physics Laboratory at Hanscom Air Force Base.
Dr. Carter continued his career as a community college professor from 1982 to 1985 and again from 1996 to 1999. He found success as a physical scientist at the Dugway Proving Ground from 2001 to 2011. He was active as an adjunct professor of physics at Utah Tech University from 2017 to 2022. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at the University of California, Davis, where he earned a Master of Science in applied physics. He concluded his studies at Boston University, graduating with a PhD in applied physics and space science in 1995.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Carter has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He held the role of co-chair of the Sons of the American Revolution and post-historian with the American Legion. He volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and was a fourth-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his primary vocation, Dr. Carter remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He sat on the board of directors and the veterans’ committee of the Vietnam Veterans of America and was a member of the Sterling Russell Post 100, the Utah Society Sons of the American Revolution, and the American Physical Society. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Air Medal, the Department of the Army Distinguished Civilian Service Award, and a certificate of appreciation from the United States Air Force. In the immediate future, he intends to visit his children and grandchildren and explore more travel opportunities while furthering his knowledge and experience in options trading.
