Martin A. Kykta, president at MAK Electro-Optics, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physics.
With 26 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Kykta has excelled as president of MAK Electro-Optics since 2014. He began his career with Fairchild Semiconductor before transitioning to the role of senior engineer at 3M from 1997 to 1999. He garnered a stellar reputation as a self-employed consultant from 1999 to 2000. He established himself as a senior staff engineer at MicroVision from 2000 to 2006.
Dr. Kykta continued his career as a senior research scientist at Unipixel Displays Inc. from 2007 to 2014. He was active as an optical engineer at Safran from 2017 to 2020. At SID, he contributed as chapter chair from 2014 to 2023. He was active as principal optical engineer at Microsoft from 2021 to 2023.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Kykta pursued an education at Haverford College, where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in physics. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Illinois, obtaining a master’s degree in physics. He concluded his studies at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a PhD in atomic and molecular physics in 1996. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the SID and the Optical Society.
Dr. Kykta attributes his success to being grounded, rational, and persistent. He considers his contributions to the development of an electric incandescent bulb among his most notable career achievements. In the immediate future, he intends to write scientific papers and explore opportunities in different industries before retiring.
