Carving out a distinguished career in epidemiology, Ms. Linton currently excels as an informatics epidemiologist for the state of Maine, a role she has held since 2022. Additionally, since 2018, she has held the role of visiting professor at DeVry University. From 2020 to 2021, she obtained a contract job as an epidemiologist with the Texas Department of State Health Services, where she helped with the COVID-19 intervention by doing case investigations, school outbreak investigations, and monitoring variant strains. Prior to this, she worked on a contract basis as a senior public health epidemiologist with the Department of State Health Services for the U.S. Virgin Islands, the National Environmental Health Association, the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and the Center for Disease Control from 2019 to 2020. In this role, she was part of a program to develop recommendations and monitor carbon monoxide and asthma in children after Hurricane Irma and Maria caused an outbreak of cases.

Ms. Linton also held an impressive tenure as an epidemiologist at the Ministry of Health and Social Development from 2008 to 2017. During her time there, she coordinated population-based research on chronic disease risk factors, designed databases, and developed a syndromic surveillance system for infectious diseases. Additionally, she developed protocols and guidelines for infectious disease management. Earlier in her career, she worked as an assistant epidemiologist with the Western Regional Epidemiology Unit from 2006 to 2008 and as an environmental health safety specialist with the St. James Health Department from 1991 to 2008. Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Linton earned a diploma in Environmental Health from the West Indies School of Public Health, University of Technology, in 1991. She then pursued further education and obtained a master’s degree in public health from Northern Caribbean University in 2004. Her certifications include a certificate in leadership and management from the University of Washington in 2014, SAS Programming 1: Essentials, GIAC Software Cyber Security from DeVry University, a Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists contact tracing certificate, and a certificate in leadership and management from the University of Washington School of Public Health. She is also an active member of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, reflecting her commitment to staying up to date on public health and epidemiology.

One of Ms. Linton’s most notable achievements was leading a population-based survey in the British Virgin Islands to investigate the risk factors for chronic diseases. She authored the resulting report, which was published in the West Indian Medical Journal. She presented her findings at the Caribbean Research Council Conference, spurring the initiation of several programs on the island. Additionally, her dedication and contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic earned her recognition from the Texas Department of State Health Services. She credits her success to her lifelong desire to excel. She also authored “Peace Came in the Morning,” which is based on the true story of a woman in the British Virgin Islands who experienced a near-death encounter on September 6, 2017, during Hurricane Irma – the strongest recorded Atlantic tropical cyclone in history. Looking ahead, she plans to complete her second and third books. She also aims to expand her YouTube channel and provide consulting services to assist people with weight management.
