With over 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Lamagna has excelled as forensic scientist, engineer, general manager, and owner of American Forensic Technologies LLC since 1993. He began his career with industrial machinery in the mold, tool, and die field for 14 years. He served as a forensic consultant in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, California, Illinois, Texas, Michigan, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and several foreign countries, including Colombia. He found success as a teaching assistant to undergraduate engineering students.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Lamagna pursued an education at Fairfield University where he completed coursework in pre-medical studies between 1973 and 1974. He concluded his studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in plastics engineering and a minor in biology in 1977 and a Master of Science in materials science and engineering and a minor in biotechnology in 1998. He completed coursework toward a doctoral degree in science in engineering and biotechnology at the same between 1993 and 2003. Moreover, Mr. Lamagna has completed more than 2,000 hours of specialized forensic and law enforcement training from the Metro-Dade Police Training Institute and other law enforcement training facilities to support his ambitions in his field.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Lamagna has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He held the role of police constable with the Massachusetts State Police and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1989 to 2011. He found success with his multiple published works in The Boston Phoenix, the Los Angeles Times, Channel 7 News, Channel 25 News, The Champion, the Journal of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, Sentinel & Enterprise, and Academia.edu. He has been invited to speak and present in nine different countries and has a pending patent for a time-temperature gauge.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Lamagna remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Microscopy Society of America, the National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers, the American Firearms Industry, the American Society for Law Enforcement Training, the International Association for Identification, the National Fire Protection Association, the American Society for Biomechanics, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers International, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
