She currently serves as a principal scientist at Shiseido, a position she has held since 2019, where she supports product claims for brands like Drunk Elephant and Nars, overseeing internal testing, clinical research, and collaborations. Her responsibilities include generating clinical images to demonstrate improvements in wrinkles, spots, and signs of aging while ensuring quality control of vendors, reports, and protocols. She collaborates closely with marketing, product development, and legal teams to communicate clinical study results and mentors junior employees. Her experience also includes senior scientist at L’Oréal, senior research scientist at Revlon, and research scientist at Colgate-Palmolive. Earlier in her career, she worked as a microbiologist at BASF Pharma Solutions and a pharmacy technician at Pathmark Pharmacy.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Ms. Lagman earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Rutgers University in 1999. Additionally, she has been actively involved with the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists, volunteers at the Clark Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Sandy Hook Beach Clean Up, and Career Day events to inspire young children to pursue science careers, and mentors teens at The Young Women’s Leadership School of Astoria. In light of her impressive undertakings, she is a three-time recipient of Shiseido’s Circle of Trust Award, a peer-nominated recognition honoring those who embody the company’s Trust 8 principles. She attributes her success to her genuine care for colleagues and dedication to fostering strong relationships, as well as her grandmother, a resilient seamstress who raised seven children as a single mother.
