Additionally, the company develops 510k quality personal protection equipment, including apparel, gloves and masks, all made in America.

Leveraging her expertise, Dr. Truscott has been successful as the president of Truscott MedSci Associates LLC since 2015, an independent consulting and educational advancement company based in Roswell, Georgia.

For over 20 years, Dr. Truscott was affiliated with Kimberly-Clark Health Care. Hired in 2000, she was the director of scientific affairs and clinical education. She also held positions with SafeSkin Corporation, Baxter HealthCare and MIDECO, a medical device safety-testing laboratory. Her expertise in microbiology, immunology, pathology and infection prevention has been demonstrated through years of success in test development, standards setting, microbiological studies, quality assurance, regulatory submissions and compliance, and more.

Possessing a robust educational background, Dr. Truscott earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho, a Master of Business Administration from the University of La Verne in La Verne, California, and a Doctor of Philosophy in comparative pathology from the University of California Davis.

Besides her work-related endeavors, Dr. Truscott has proudly supported veterans’ causes and other charities, like the American Red Cross. Her giving back to these causes has demonstrated her commitment to serving others.

As an expert in her field, Dr. Truscott has successfully presented hundreds of educational lectures across over 15 countries. As a seasoned researcher, she has also authored over 90 scholarly articles and six book chapters, including co-authoring the microbiology section of the AAMI Sterilization Recommended Practices and the ISO 19930-11 on systemic toxicity testing. Among her more recent contributions, Dr. Truscott authored the microbiology section of the IAHCSMM Endoscope Reprocessing Manual, published in 2017.

Throughout her career, Dr. Truscott has been extensively involved in characterizing the allergenic proteins initiating reactions to natural rubber latex products. Her research has been instrumental in determining frequency at different stages of harvesting and manufacturing and the necessary steps to reduce levels in the final product. As such, Dr. Truscott has been known for petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to ban glove powder in U.S. health care facilities. Additionally, she has advocated for infection prevention and safety in the health care sector.

Dr. Truscott attributes her success to some monumental opportunities and great timing. She was fortunate to have worked under some incredible bosses who encouraged her and provided tremendous mentorship. Among her most notable accomplishments, Dr. Truscott notes her work involving latex allergies. She is also proud of being appointed to represent America’s interests in developing the European Union’s medical device requirements, which was an incredible opportunity for her.

Dr. Truscott aims to continue supporting Shield Technology Inc., emphasizing that all her products are made in the U.S. She also plans to continue utilizing the latest technology to develop gloves that can provide excellent protection for physicians.
