Reflecting on her path, Ms. Romeo has always been drawn to science, a passion that began in childhood. Her curiosity about the “why” and “how” of biological processes was sparked at age 11 after the sudden passing of her father. During her undergraduate studies, she discovered her true calling in microbiology after taking her first course in the subject in 2015. Determined to work in microbiology after graduating, she researched job opportunities and came across a position as a senior technologist at Charles River Laboratories. Despite having no prior experience, the company recognized her potential and hired her right out of college.

Ms. Romeo attributes her success to the adversities that have shaped her resilience and determination. In the coming years, she is focused on furthering her expertise in microbiology and biotechnology and is committed to advancing her career at Charles River Laboratories. As a cancer researcher, she has conducted significant research at Charleston Southern University, her alma mater, and is currently working on a groundbreaking study focused on colorectal adenocarcinoma. She is eager to complete the study and publish her findings, adding to the body of scientific knowledge in the field. In the short term, she aims to continue her work as a microbiologist at Charles River Laboratories, with aspirations of advancing within the company and making further impactful contributions to the biotechnology industry.
