Dwain R. Hultberg Jr., Consultant at TMP Excellence LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Steel and Consulting.
Following a long and successful career in the steel industry, Mr. Hultberg founded TMP Excellence LLC in 2018 as the company’s president. Specializing as a consultant, he leverages four decades of expertise to serve clients. His role in consulting stems from his numerous interactions with many individuals who have asked for his support and guidance throughout the years. Relying on his extensive technical knowledge, much of Mr. Hultberg’s tenure in the field was spent at Ohio Coatings Company as the process control manager from 1998 to 2016. Previously, he served as a technical manager for Roll Coater Inc., a technology manager at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, and a corporate manager of product and process technology for coated products at National Steel Corporation, dating back to 1985.
Mr. Hultberg has become best known for his expertise in producing templates for food containers and managing and controlling the cans-making method. Proficient in the entire steelmaking process, from melting the steel to rolling it to create tin, he has also conducted research, lab work, and corrosion analysis in the field. When the steel industry began to decline and aluminum took over, Mr. Hultberg easily transitioned into the coating sector.
Highly educated, Mr. Hultberg graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1968 and a Master of Science in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 1974. He has also remained active with several industry-related organizations, such as the National Association for Surface Finishing, the American Society for Testing and Materials and National Coil Coating Association, and as a member and former chair of the Association for Iron and Steel Technology’s tinplate technology committee. Locally, Mr. Hultberg enjoys supporting organizations that cater to children in need. Among various accolades, he has been recognized among the Who’s Who in Technology Today by J. Dick & Company.
